In this world, advanced skills, stressed upon by academia, aren’t essential for living day-to-day. A person can live out their life without having math skills beyond the 10th grade, or knowing the trajectory of an object experiencing projectile motion, or having the slightest clue of the functioning of a human body’s anatomical parts — They don’t even need to know the definitions of the words used above! We can save that lingo, and the knowledge associated with it, to the experts who specialise in those fields. So then, what is the point of having this abundance of knowledge if the majority of the population has no real use for it? There must be a reason why academics stress their importance, and why some strive to gain this extra knowledge (while knowing full-well that being aware that the square-root of 4 equaling 2 doesn’t really help you flip burgers at McDonalds).

It’s a million dollar industry–fighting swine. companies who manufacture latex gloves, face masks and hand sanitizers must profit a fuck-load from this scare. one lady bought out the whole shelf of hand sanitizer at the store that I work. Same thing happened at my girlfriend’s store too!
Not to mention the vaccines. My government is offering clinics where you can receive flu shots–they cover the cost. It’s not like they can just look the other way when the media, and the WHO, have blown the h1n1 thing out of proportion. They have to play along with it.
before that, it was avian flu (buy lotsa mosquito repellent!). before that, it was SARS.
I guess it does help the economy–the scare. but I’ve seen way too much paranoia lately. My sister, who recently had a baby, has made it known that if we want to visit, we have to get the flu shot. I’ve got nothing against getting one, but my brother, and her husband took offense to it. I understand she’s worried for her own daughter, but for f’s sake, don’t contribute to the ’crisis’ that isn’t a crisis. we all know how to prevent the spread of viruses. a little common sense will tell you that getting the vaccine won’t protect her baby from contracting the flu. after all, it only decreases the chances of the person, who has gotten the shot, from contracting it. Wash your damned hands. Wipe down your door knob. Don’t let the coughing fool with the leaky nose into your home! Tell him to go back where he came from.
Wear your gloves, your face masks, goggles, rubber body-suits. no skin-on-skin contact; NO SEX.
OMFG< Don’t breath on me.
how about a law to have a mandatory sterilization chamber at the entrance to all of our homes. let’s push for that. We’ll make a killing(!!) and people will feel safer.

From the answerbag:
“Being with your life partner, being so close spiritually, emotionally and physically. Caring about their emotional and sexual needs before your own, is making love. Pure physical attraction being physical and tending to your own needs, is just sex.”

Thousands of miles apart. It’s irritating how I’m totally and completely out of contact with her. I just want to hear how she’s doing! No phone, no email — nothing. I can only hope she’s well and good. As for me, things are good, but they could be better if I was with her.

It’s been the most intense 4 weeks of my life, but it was well worth it. The happiness is there, and so are you. <3

I saw a raccoon get hit by a car with my own eyes, but it lived for two minutes longer. I fell to my knees as i watched it twitch in pain; all the while, oncoming cars drove around it. How considerate that they let it suffer, there on the road, rather than put it out of its misery.
No matter what you do, you can’t make up for past mistakes. The only thing you can do is change yourself and never make that same mistake again.
.. and all the other person can do is forgive and forget.

Change of heart halfway through. It's gutted, but still living. Unfortunately.
